All of a sudden, Tanguy Ndombele has emerged as Barcelona’s priority signing with Ivan Rakitic and Arturo Vidal not standing upto the expectations of Barelona new manager Quique Setien.
Recently Tanguy was criticised by Jose Mourinho in the press and Setien aspires to use this bruise at his advantage. Barcelona manager wants a midfielder with legs and Setien feels that the former Lyon star can be the guy.
The £54 million star has been suffering from injuries in his first season at North London and has not performed upto the expectations. However, he could be brought in as a direct replacement for Ivan Rakitic or Arturo Vidal.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Setien is a big admirer of Ndombele and is also a long-term solution to the ageing midfield problems of Barcelona. The Blaugranas were also interested in the summer but stayed away from making a bid.
Setien’s interest coupled with versatility that Ndombele possesses can be enough for Barcelona to make a deal this term. The 27-year-old has struggled to find a place in Tottenham jersey and would have no regret in leaving the club.
He has just made two starts this calendar year so we can expect him to leave. And since the arrival of Mourinho, he has seen himself only pecking down further and further. His struggle to get series of games in succession and inability to perform at his will can help Barcelona further.
Barcelona’s ageing midfield and Ndombele’s aspiration to play for one of the biggest club in Europe can together create a deal which no Spurs fan would agree.
