The Chelsea centre-back Kurt Zouma is looking to seal a move away from the blues and according to the Téléfoot journalist Julien Maynard, Spurs are interested in moving for Zouma in this summer transfer window.
Kurt Zouma has found himself out of favour at Stamford Bridge in the past few seasons. With Chelsea signing former PSG center-back Thiago Silva in the past year, it was quite evident that Zouma’s time had come to move on but the French International did not try to force his way out of the club. Now a year later Zouma has finally decided to find a new club and start a new project.
#Mercato— Julien Maynard (@JulienMaynard) July 9, 2021
Zouma made a total of only 36 appearances in all competitions for the London club in the last season. He was not used much under former boss Frank Lampard and even as the new manager Thomas Tuchel came in, Zouma was still not preferred. Andres Christiansen, Cesar Azpilicueta, Antonio Rudiger, and Thiago Silva are all above Kurt Zouma in terms of preference at Chelsea and it is quite understandable by this that Zouma will eventually move on for more game time and a regular role in a team.
Kurt Zouma who arrived at Chelsea from Saint-Étienne in 2014 has many other options as well. Many English clubs like Everton and Wolves are also interested in him apart from Spurs. Though Zouma recently rejected the offer to join Wolves according to Julien Maynard.
Tottenham Hotspur are looking to strengthen their backline and are now interested in Kurt Zouma. They could lodge a bid for the Frenchmen if they primarily fail in sealing the deal for the Aston Villa defender Ezri Konsa. Tottenham Hotspur’s primary target for the centre-back position is Ezri but it is increasingly looking that Aston Villa would not allow the young defender to leave this summer and hence Spurs are already shifting their focus to other targets and one of them being Kurt Zouma.
Spurs will have to act quickly because his former boss Jose Mourinho who is managing Roma also seems to be interested in him.
