Real Betis have renewed their interest in the talented Argentine playmaker Giovani Lo Celso, igniting talks between the club and Tottenham Hotspur.
According to renowned Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, this summer brings a new opportunity for Lo Celso to make a comeback to the Spanish club he once called home.

The Argentinian made a name for himself at the La Liga club, showing his quality to one and all and earning the name as one of the most exciting playmakers coming up.
A struggle in the shadows of North London
Since his arrival at Tottenham Hotspur in 2019, Lo Celso has yet to reach the anticipated heights. Despite his 84 appearances for Spurs, the Argentine has contributed only eight goals and six assists, falling short of expectations.
However, his loan spell at Villarreal under the guidance of Unai Emery showcased his true potential, helping the team reach the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League in the 2022/23 season. Sadly for the talented midfielder though, an injury forced him to miss out on Argentina’s title-winning FIFA World Cup 2022 campaign – a tournament where he would have been a sure-shot starter for Lionel Scaloni’s team.
However, the Spurs man did not seem bogged down by all that. He continued to show his importance to the team under Quique Setien, who took over from Emery mid-season.
The alluring path back to La Liga
With interest from various suitors, including Aston Villa, a return to La Liga seems more probable for Lo Celso. English football’s demands have proven challenging for the 27-year-old, making a move back to Spain an enticing prospect.
However, Real Betis may face a hurdle due to their limited budget, requiring Tottenham Hotspur to lower their asking price. Inevitably, Giovani Lo Celso‘s departure from Tottenham appears imminent.
