Radu Dragusin’s imminent transfer to Tottenham Hotspur is set to include a loan move for out-of-favor Spurs defender Djed Spence, according to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano.

It would be loan move until the end of the season.

Spurs have made a formal proposal to Genoa as they look to wrap up the signing of Dragusin. The Romanian centre-half has been identified as the ideal choice to reinforce the injury-ridden backline.
The North London club have made a bid of €25m fixed fee and €5m add-ons for the 21-year-old centre-back. As a part of this deal, struggling Spurs defender Djed Spence would join the Italian club.
Genoa are said to be willing to accept this offer. Agreeing terms with the player was never an issue. As long as Spence is willing to go on loan to the Italian club which he must be, this transfer could be accelerated in the coming hours.
What does this mean for Djed Spence?
The young English right-back spent the first half of the season on loan at Leeds United. He struggled for game time in Daniel Farke’s impressive side. Injuries certainly did not help the former Middlesbrough star’s cause.
The Championship club decided they had seen enough of Spence to realise that the Spurs man is not going to work for them. Understandably, they triggered the clause to end his loan spell early.
Spurs have had Spence at the club but clearly do not see him featuring at any point this season. In fact, he had been asked to train with the u-21s until a loan move for him could be sorted.
A chance to move to Genoa offers Spence a fresh start in a new country. With Dragusin set to move to Spurs, a gap opens up in their backline which the English right-back could look to take advantage of.
What does this mean for Tottenham?
The sooner this deal gets over the line, the better for us. If we can manage to complete this deal in the coming hours, there is a good chance for Dragusin to be involved for the Manchester United clash this weekend.
Micky van de Ven is expected to be fit and available to start against Erik ten Hag’s side. Whilst Ben Davies has been impressive so far, Dragusin offers the club a potential alternative.
With Eric Dier’s departure from the club imminent as well, Spurs cannot go into the second half of the season with Davies, Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven as their only centre-halves.
Considering the injury cloud surrounding the Welshman, there is a good chance we might see Dragusin thrown straight into the deep end against Man United, should we able to register him by then.
Exciting times lie ahead for Spurs. We are building a young and exciting team under a very promising manager. Let’s hope we grow from strength to strength in the second half of the season.
