Radu Dragusin “happy” at Tottenham Hotspur

Radu Dragusin’s agent has clarified that the centre-back is happy at Tottenham Hotspur amidst rumours of a possible departure to Serie A in the January transfer window.

Dragusin became the most expensive Romanian in football history earlier this year when Spurs signed him from Genoa for a reported fee of £21.5 million. The 22-year-old is tall and physical and has shown a good passing range. However, in his ten months at Tottenham, Dragusin has been sparsely used, starting just five league matches.

The lack of game time prompted his agent, Florin Manea, to state that his client is unhappy in London and his future will depend on the number of games he plays this season. Mamea also mentioned that they “like” that multiple clubs are showing interest.

“We like that many teams are following him. No player is happy if he doesn’t play a lot, but he wants to fight for his place. We’ll see later how many games he plays, and we’ll evaluate. At this moment, it’s premature to think about a transfer. I haven’t spoken to anyone, and I don’t think Tottenham want to let him go.” he said

However, after a strong performance by Dragusin in a 2-1 Carabao Cup win against Manchester City, the agent took back his earlier words and stated that the centre-back is happy at Tottenham.

“He’s coming off a great match against Manchester City, now he’s focused on the rest of the season. He wants to do well with Tottenham.

“I learn about it from the Italian newspapers, I honestly don’t know anything about it (transfer links to Serie A clubs.)

“With Juventus, As far as I’m concerned, there have been no contacts. As always, the final say in these cases will be up to the club he belongs to, but the boy is happy here at Tottenham.”

With Micky van de Ven out for a month due to the hamstring injury he picked up against Man City, Dragusin will likely get regular game time. Should he impress Ange Postecogolou with his performances, Micky won’t find it easy to reclaim his spot in the lineup.
