The report claimed that the Austrian midfielder is on top of Mourinho’s summer transfer list. Despite Spurs investing heavily in the winter transfer window signing Lo Celso and Steven Bergwin, Mourinho will to be looking to add a more creative midfielder to his team, with the departure of Eriksen to Inter Milan on in January.

Sabitzer put in a stellar performance across both legs against Tottenham in the Champions League scoring a brace and sealing Mourinho’s exit from the competition.

The midfielder had said: “Last season, I was missing a littlebit of calmness in front of goal. I’ve got that back.”

Sabitzer has already scored fifteen goals and setting up 8 assists this season, almost double his tally last season, and has proven that he can shine at the top level and would be a good goalscoring option for the team from midfield.

He currently is under contract with Leipzig until 2022 and Tottenham will have to shell out in excess of £45m to lure the 26-year-old from the Bundesliga, where he has flourished this season.

Sabitzer started his career in Austria before moving to the German Bundesliga in 2014 signing with RB Leipzig from Rapid Wein, playing across a series of several different positions, in central midfield, in attack as a winger, defensively as a wingback and has gone on to play over 150 games for the club.

His work rate and ethic, along with his dedication is second to none among attacking midfielders in Germany. He can drive play from the deep while also helping out defensively. Spurs this season have lacked the drive in midfield and Sabitzer can provide that type of leadership, constantly pushing and pressing opponents.

Sabitzer is clearly ready and suited to play in the Premier League and if Tottenham do sign him, the Austrian will be a fantastic signing for the North London side in midfield.
