As reported by InterLive, Nottingham Forest are aiming to strike first in the race to sign Italian midfielder Davide Frattesi. They are willing to offer a player-plus-cash deal in order to ward off interest from Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur.

The 25-year-old joined Inter Milan from Sassuolo last summer in a blockbuster move. He had a successful tenure at his former club, and many expected him to play a prominent role at San Siro.

However, things haven’t gone as per initially planned, and he is struggling with limited game time this season. Although he featured in 33 games, the majority of his appearances came as a super sub. Frattesi has also been omitted from the past few games, further fuelling speculations about his future at his present club.

AS Roma were interested in roping him in the January transfer window. But Sassuolo’s €40 million transfer valuation pushed them out of the race. And now, several top PL clubs like Nottingham Forest and Tottenham Hotspur are eyeing a Bosman move for the talented player.

Frattesi and his agent will remain hopeful that things improve before the end of the season. Anything north of that might trigger a summer move with a number of suitors waiting in line.

Davide Frattesi is a versatile midfielder who flourishes in the central midfield role and can also contribute upfront. The Italian’s dynamic gameplay and an eye for a goal make him a perfect fit for the English league. He is a box-to-box midfielder but has been made to play as a CDM in the past.

Forest needs such a personality in their team. They are pushing for a spot in the UEFA Champions League next season. The Tricky Trees are standing firm in the third spot in the PL table.

Signing such quality players can help them compete well in the European competition. Spurs are also well placed in this transfer race but might risk losing the player if they move too slowly.

Nottingham Forest‘s plan to offer Nicolás Domínguez in a player-plus-cash deal could be accepted by the Inter hierarchy. Manager Simone Inzaghi won’t hesitate in signing the 26-year-old player since he has the experience of playing in Serie A.

Dominguez is valued at only €15m, which means that the tricky trees will have to offer only €20-25m for their key target. Inter might hold on for more, but a lack of options could ultimately provoke them to sell him for cheap next summer.

It remains to be seen if Tottenham will accelerate their attempts to land Frattesi or switch their interest to other high-profile targets in the transfer market.
