Tottenham will make late checks on two key players before Saturday’s visit of Crystal Palace, with five more ruled out and a midfielder still serving his suspension.
The latest Tottenham injury news, rounded up by Sports Mole on Wednesday morning, lists James Maddison and Destiny Udogie as major doubts, Tosin Adarabioyo as a minor doubt, and Mykhaylo Mudryk, Xavi Simons, Wilson Odobert, Savio and Lucas Bergvall as out.
Spurs go into the game with nine points from their first eight Premier League matches, and they have won their last two league fixtures. Keeping that run going against their London rivals in the Saturday evening slot will depend a lot on who passes those late tests.
Tottenham injury news: the two big doubts for Palace
James Maddison: groin
Maddison was forced off at Chelsea last time out with a groin issue. It is still unclear how long he will be out, but a place in the squad against Crystal Palace has not been ruled out at this stage.
We covered De Zerbi’s first verdict on the Maddison injury straight after Stamford Bridge, and nothing since has settled the question either way. He is listed as a major doubt.
Destiny Udogie: knee
Tottenham need to make a late check on Udogie too. The defender picked up a knee injury in the 1-1 draw with Manchester United, and he is also a major doubt for Saturday.
Is Tosin back for Tottenham vs Crystal Palace?
The news is a little brighter on Tosin Adarabioyo. The centre-back missed the win at Chelsea with a calf problem and will be assessed before the Palace game, but he is only listed as a minor doubt.
Who is out in the latest Tottenham injury news?
| Player | Problem | Status | Possible return |
|---|---|---|---|
| James Maddison | Groin | Major doubt | Crystal Palace (31 October) |
| Destiny Udogie | Knee | Major doubt | Crystal Palace (31 October) |
| Tosin Adarabioyo | Calf | Minor doubt | Crystal Palace (31 October) |
| Mykhaylo Mudryk | Ankle | Out | Leeds United (7 November) |
| Lucas Bergvall | Injury | Out | Leeds United (7 November) |
| Savio | Muscle | Out | Unknown |
| Wilson Odobert | Knee | Out | Before the end of 2026 |
| Xavi Simons | Knee | Out | Early 2027 |
| Rodrigo Bentancur | Suspended | Out | Leeds United (7 November) |
Mudryk and Bergvall aim for Leeds
Mykhaylo Mudryk hurt his ankle in training and is not expected back until at least 7 November, when Spurs face Leeds United. Lucas Bergvall is pencilled in for the same game.
Savio faces a fight to return in November
Savio is out with a muscular problem. There is no firm return date, and he faces a battle to be back on the field before the end of November.
Long-term absentees: Simons and Odobert
Both attackers are dealing with serious knee injuries. Xavi Simons suffered his back in April, and the Netherlands international will not be available until the early stages of 2027. Wilson Odobert is expected back before the end of 2026.
With this many players in the treatment room, the medical department is under scrutiny, and De Zerbi has already stood up for Tottenham’s medical staff in public.
Bentancur’s ban runs through Palace
Rodrigo Bentancur is the one suspension. He was sent off in the 1-1 draw with Manchester United earlier this month and is not expected to be available again until the Leeds game.
Verdict: the Tottenham injury news is better than the list looks
Nine names sounds like a crisis, but only three of them are genuinely in play for Saturday, and that is where it matters. If Maddison and Tosin come through their checks, De Zerbi has far more to work with than the length of that list suggests.
Udogie is the one I’d worry about. A knee problem that drags on would leave the defence thin, and with Bentancur also out until Leeds, there is not much slack in the squad. As we laid out in our look at why Palace at home is a bigger test than Chelsea, this is a game Spurs are expected to win, and the late fitness calls could decide how comfortably they do it.
