Tottenham Hotspur have revived their long-standing interest in Serbian international and Fulham striker Aleksandar Mitrovic. This comes in as a news after Spurs officially declared that Harry Kane was going to be out for a period.
The Lily whites do not have a strong contender to replace the talismanic Kane in the striking position which has resulted their revival of interest in Mitrovic. The Serbian has been out of visible action as Fulham were relegated last season and are currently fighting in the Championship.
The Serbian was a talked about figure in the summer where Tottenham failed to buy him, but the North Londoners have regained their interest in Fulham’s highest paid player and are adamant to bring him under Mourinho.
Mitrovic has been recently awarded for his service at Fulham with a huge raise in fee that amounts to £120,000 a week and has repaid every penny with his rapid performances. The striker has already scored 18 goals in just 25 games this season and is looking sharper than ever .
The 25-year-old is a bright option for Spurs to consider a like-to-like replacement for Harry Kane. The Serbian has a physique similar to that of Kane and possesses a style almost that of Kane but only thing that he lacks in is consistency. However, at present he is the best and likeliest option to join Spurs.
Although Fulham are reluctant to sell Mitrovic as they look to bring themselves back in the Premier League, Spurs are not leaving any nail to get the striker to London. The North-Londoners are trying tooth and nail to bring the forward and strengthen their squad.
Mitrovic is not only a short term replacement for Kane but also a player with bright future and good number of years of football left in him. The Serbian can prove to be a gamble for Spurs but is one that will certainly pay back every penny pinned on him.
