Tottenham were all set to offload Victor Wanyama in the summer but did fail to get rid of the Kenyan despite genuine interests from Club Brugge and Celtic. Infact, he was almost shipped to Belgium in a deal believed to be worth £13 million but the pact fell off in the last minute.
And now Wanyama is stuck at Spurs…
Victor has struggled for game time under Mauricio Pochettino after series of injures & has suggested he wanted to get past Tottenham in the summer.
“For me, I am a professional player and sometimes you have to wait until everything is done. Things were good but unfortunately the transfer didn’t happen,” he said.
“But I have to put my head down and work hard in training to be back on top form. I will keep working and wait for my chance in the team.”
Looks like the 28-year-old will be shown the doors in the Winter with Celtic still keen to bring him to Glasgow. Wanyama was a huge hit at Celtic during his couple of years with the Hoops including scoring in THAT famous Champions League win over Barcelona.
While, Neil Lennon admitted he did want to bring Wanyama back to Parkhead in the summer and yet stays optimistic for a January move.
“There was interest but it never got off the ground.”, Lennon said when speaking to The Sun. Could we look at it again in January? We’ll have to wait and see.
“We might not want to with the balance of the squad now, as well as the affordability.”
