With Fabio Paratici coming in through the doors at Hotspur Way, he will bring in his list of the pool of players from Serie A who he feels can fit in at N17 and unsurprisingly this means – Spurs will be linked with a lot of players plying their trade in Italy.
There have been a few beforehand, and the latest addition to that list is Mikkel Damsgaard. Now, this is not the first time the twenty-year-old has been linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, he was among potential options when José Mourinho was in charge.
SampNews24.com suggested yesterday that Spurs are ‘preparing a new assault’ for the Denmark international. Fabio is said to be following Damsgaard ‘closely’, though Sampdoria ‘have no intention’ of selling, and offer ‘superior to €20m’ could force them to ‘waver’.

Who is Mikkel Damsgaard?
Mikkel Damsgaard is product of FC Nordsjælland, one of the finest club in Denmark who have produced likes of Emre Mor, Andreas Skov Olsen, Mathias Jensen and Stanislav Lobotka. Damsgaard has always been highly rated coming through the ranks at Nordsjælland and was eventually sold for €6.5 million to Sampdoria – making him the second-most expensive purchase from the Danish side.
As we observe in many young talents these days, Mikkel is versatile through the forward line as well. Damsgaard has featured as a central midfielder, left winger, as a number ten, and even up front – clocking at least 1,500 minutes in each position. Although he has been most effective cutting in from the left followed by when in a number ten role.
During his time with Sampdoria and with Nordsjælland, he has cloaked up expected figures matching the likes of Kingsley Coman, Gabriel Martinelli, and Mikel Oyarzabal.
Do Spurs need him?
As of now, Tottenham could do with experienced heads who can turn things around and can bring some heads into the game. Yet, we’ve seen with our neighbours in Red and White – Bagging on young prospects can sometimes pay off much more than experienced heads driving glitters at £350,000 per week.
Although the academy has some good prospects progressing with time, there is always room for more talent. Especially after losing someone like Juan Foyth.
Will Spurs break the bank to sign him?
Levy shedding that €20m on a teen face looks very unlikely to me though with a bit of convincing from Fabio Paratici and possibly from Paulo Fornesca, who would have watched Damsgaard develop during his time in Italy – DL might give in.
Though there are many positions to fill in right now and investment doesn’t look on cards unless that’s for a commendable defender who can attack or an attacker who can defend. And there always is much to do with Harry Kane and what’s he gonna do.
