According to a report from the Mail Online, “Tottenham is monitoring West Ham target and Celta Vigo striker Maxi Gomez “
Tottenham is keen to sign the player as a backup for Striker Harry Kane. The Englishman missed a month of action because of his ankle injury earlier this season and Spurs found it difficult to cope up without their star player. A similar knock he sustained against Manchester City in Champions League quarterfinals Leg 1 earlier this month and the club are now looking to bring in a backup for Kane as Fernando Llorente and Vincent Janssen both failed to live up to the expectations.
Celta Vigo striker Maxi Gomez has a release clause of £43.5 million and has expressed his desire to leave the club struggling to void relegation from the top division. Gomez has scored 17 goals and notched 4 assists in 36 appearances for the club last season and has been in exceptional form this season having already scored 11 goals and creating 5 assists in 29 appearances for the club.
Gomez is also reportedly wanted by Premiere league side West Ham United. However, the player has expressed his desire to join a team that plays European football.
At just 22, Maxi Gomez has shown the potential of becoming one of the best strikers in the world. And at £43.5 million could prove to be a bargain for the club struggling to score goals in the absence of Harry Kane.
However, it remains to be seen if the player is willing to be a second-choice striker behind Kane.
