Sven Botman has been on the transfer agenda among the Premier League clubs for some time now, with multiple of them trying to sway the 22-year-old away from Lille – yet nothing materialized and he’s one of the big names that can walk into the heart of the defence and make an everlasting impact. That’s where Tottenham Hotspur and Antonio Conte come in…
The North London side are craving for someone who can partner Cristian Romero and mend the conceding leaks, and they have identified Sven Botman to be the face to do so. Though Fabio Paratici has to act quickly as Newcastle United and AC Milan are keen to lay the red carpet for him as well. The Dutchman’s agent confirmed interest from both the clubs back in the winter transfer window and earlier this month, the player’s representatives met the Reds from Milan with the reported aim to ‘overcome’ competition from Newcastle to sign him in the summer.
TuttoMercatoWeb assert that Sven Botman is the ‘first declared goal’ of the Serie A league leaders and in order to secure his services, Stefano Pioli’s side are ‘ready to offer’ Lille an established fee of €20m plus €5m in potential payments as bonuses.
Alongside Milan, Tottenham Hotspur are said to be only ‘thinking’ about Sven Botman while Juventus are also said to be making rounds for a potential deal to emerge of it. TMW claim that Daniel Levy and Tottenham ‘want to give at least one centre-back of international level’ to Antonio Conte and that’s why they ‘think about’ Botman.
It looks like a bit of a tug-of-war with who will blink first, though it’s not to argue that someone of Botman’s potential can prove an enormous presence in the years to come. But Tottenham need to act quickly!
