Spurs are looking to add some creativity to the current squad and are already in the market for such a profile. Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar is definitely one of those on the list.
According to a report from the reputed Get French Football News, the French International has been absent from the pre-season training and hasn’t shown up at the training ground for quite a few days. He was due to report back after the conclusion of his vacation holidaying on July 1 with his other teammates.
Aouar appeared on July 1 only for the meeting with the new manager Peter Bosz but since then he hasn’t turned up for the training. The French press was quick at noticing the situation and made inquiries to the club about the brewing situation with Houssem Aouar. Lyon responded stating that the attacking midfielder has been sick for a while and will only be able to start the pre-season training after a full recovery. While sources from the club say otherwise.
Houssem Aouar is not happy with the club after the departure of Memphis Depay who moved to Barcelona on a free transfer. Aouar has two minds over whether the club is ambitious enough. This has brought Aouar to search for a new club with his agent. The report from GFFN suggests that Aouar has indeed made up his mind to leave the club and is ready to force his way out quickly.
Meanwhile, Tottenham Hotspur are interested in the 23-year-old and are ready to push for a deal in the coming days. But a host of other clubs are already interested in the talented midfielder. Manchester United, Arsenal, Juventus, and PSG have all shown interest in signing him.
Houssem Aouar wanted to leave Lyon during the last summer transfer window itself but he primarily wanted to move to a club playing the Champions League. However, Arsenal were the only club to formally bid for him. But due to Arsenal’s inability to meet the asking price from Lyon, the situation led to the breakdown of talks between the two clubs.
Now a year later, Aouar is in the news again but this time trying to desperately force his move out of Lyon and he could be available for a cut-price deal of around £30 million. If that is the case, this deal could perfectly fit in Spurs’ bill and they could have an incredible talent in their hands.
