Tottenham star Tanguy Ndombele posted a cryptic Instagram video on his official account on Monday night and fans are considering the post to be hint that he is staying at N17.
Tanguy Ndombele joined Tottenham last summer becoming the club’s record signing, from Olympique Lyon for £55million.
Jose Mourinho had often singled out the player criticizing his performances this season, particularly last month when Spurs ended up drawing to Burnley with Ndombele being hauled off at halftime, when Jose Mourinho widely criticized his disappointing display.
But Ndombele seems to have addressed any speculations about his future at the club, posting footage of him playing for Spurs, with the caption, “Rien à signaler”, which translates to “nothing to report”.
His first few months at the club were plagued by injuries and he never fully settled in, leading to his deteriorating and lackluster performances and since his transfer, has completed ninety minutes just once in the league.
Mourinho in his public criticism of the player had stated that while he is a ‘fantastic midfielder’, he expected more from the player, referring to his lack of motivation off the ball and lack of match fitness.
Ndombele was pictured with Mourinho at a public park in London this month, where the manager had set up a one-on-one session for the player, flouting the social distancing guidelines. This clearly indicates that Mourinho has not yet lost faith in the Frenchman and is helping him in adjusting to the league to harness his ability, hopefully providing him the nurturing he needs.
Earlier reports had claimed that the midfielder was looking for a way out with Barcelona interested in Ndombele and are monitoring the situation at Tottenham. However, with the cryptic post fans believe it to be a major hint that Ndombele will be remaining at Spurs and try to win over the manager.
The Frenchman had a brilliant season last year at Lyon especially in Europe in the Champions League and will be hoping to bring back that form into the Premier League.
Spurs have one of Europe’s most gifted midfielders on their hand and with the post on Instagram, Ndombele showed that his focus is on Tottenham and now has the time on his hands to show the potential and skills that he is known for.
