Tottenham have reportedly identified Porto midfielder Luis Diaz as a transfer target ahead of the 2020/21 season.
Jose Mourinho is looking to make additions to his squad after only managing an Europa League qualification. There have been several reports that the North London side will likely be restricted in the summer transfer window as a result of inadequate funds, but they still continue to be linked with a wide range of players.
Midfielders have been the main sought after players per the speculations that have gathered pace with Southampton’s Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg one of the many who is highly tipped to end up at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
And the latest reports according to the Record suggests that Mourinho’s side have identified Diaz as another creative midfielder they are interested in adding to their squad this summer.
The 23-year-old only appeared on the scene this year and enjoyed a very impressive debut campaign with the Portuguese outfit. Diaz can play as midfielder but has mainly spent time on the left wing.
The promising youngster was also quite productive in front of goal for Porto, knocking in an impressive 14 goals in all competitions while adding a further seven assists in as many matches as he featured.
Diaz has been capped by the Colombia national team on 13 occasions, managing just one goal for Carlos Queiroz’s team.
And the publication also add that the Tottenham bosses are keen on acquiring the services of the player in the summer and could pay the player’s valuation in excess of £12.5 million to bring him to the Premier League.
Should Tottenham be able to snap up Diaz, he could be a great addition to the attacking options and could provided a selection headache for Mourinho.
Knowing that he was involved in 21 goals in the 2019/20 campaign, he will definitely inject some stiff competition in the team.
