Tottenham-Hotspur-vs.-Watford-Report

A struggling Tottenham side hosted bottom placed Watford this Saturday. Both teams were looking to seal points from this game as they both, were in a spot of bother.

Spurs were coming after a 3-0 hammering against Brighton while Watford managed a stalemate against Sheffield United in their last match. The pressure was high on both managers to perform and get results.

The match started with bad news for Watford, as Danny Welbeck, who played for Spurs’ arch rivals Arsenal was subbed off injured in the 4th minute and was replaced by Gerard Deulofeu.

Just a couple of minutes later, Watford started playing from the back and were rewarded when Daryl Janmaat crossed a beautiful ball in the box for Abdoulaye Doucoure, who tapped it in past Paulo Gazzaniga to make it 1-0 for the visitors.

The ball was with Spurs for a major part of the first half, but they couldn’t find the back of the net.

Heung Min-Son was introduced at the start of the second half and created a major impact. Spurs looked more dominant and created more chances. A shot from Heung Min-Son came off the crossbar, which could’ve been the equaliser.

But, an error from Watford goalkeeper Ben Foster in the 86th minute, saw Dele Alli pounce on the ball and put it in the back of an empty net. VAR checked the goal, and while the big screen showed ‘NO GOAL’ the goal was given and play resumed.
