Tottenham is all set to battle arch-rivals Arsenal for the signature of Everton defender Michael Keane.
The future of Toby Alderweireld and Vertonghen at the club looks uncertain. Both the players were linked with a move away from the club last summer. However, Tottenham decided to use its option and extend both the players contract by a single year.
With that coming to an end the future of both the defenders at the clubs looks uncertain. As a result, Spurs started looking for replacements for the 2 defenders. Joachim Andersen and Nathan Ake were also linked with Tottenham.
According to a report in the Daily Mail, “Spurs will go head to head against their North London rivals Arsenal for the 26-year-old’s signature”
Keane joined Everton from Burnley for £25 million after coming through the Man United Youth system. After initially struggling at the club Keane has established himself as one of the best defenders in the world. His impressive form also got him his place in Gareth Southgate’s England side.
In 29 appearances for Everton, this season Keane has managed 1 goal and 2 assists with a passing accuracy of 80%. The player has also managed 163 clearances and 42 interceptions this season which is one of the best in the league.
At just 26 Keane has a lot of years left in him and could prove to be a great signing for Tottenham. Having already played in the Premier league the player can immediately take up the place of Aderweireld or Vertonghen and deliver spectacular performances for the club.
