Marcus Thuram was subject to a lot of links with Tottenham back in summer before the appointment of Fabio Paratici at N17. The Frenchman was fundamentally close to bidding adieu to Borussia Mönchengladbach only for an untimely knee injury to put stop to everything.
Inter Milan were said to have the deal about but over the line, only for it to slip away from them at the eleventh hour. Thuram is now struggling his way in Germany – and that will take a substantial financial toll on Die Fohlen.
This could play in Spurs’ hands, considering how he was considered a ‘priority’ signing back in he day, and they were ‘in talks’ to sign him at one point. The fee then discussed was at least over the €30m mark with some suggesting it could go as far as €40-45m – but that’s all in days of yore.
With Marcus Thuram looks far from his best and that’s compiled by his recent outburst with Breel Embolo – L’Equipe now say that he could be on his way out as early as January. They write that Gladbach are ‘ready to let him go’, with the word on the street that they could accept as little as €15m.
Thuram will be equally desperate to end his time at Borussia-Park with his sights set on representing France at the World Cup next year, and a move elsewhere could help him achieve so.
