Tottenham Hotspur’s 3-1 loss to Liverpool seems to have hurt them more than people would think. According to numerous reports, Serge Aurier’s Spurs career is in huge doubt after he was involved in a half-time bust-up with Jose Mourinho.
The Ivory Coast International was subbed at half-time to accommodate Matt Doherty on his natural right-side while Ben Davies played as a left-back for the rest of the match. And so the defender left the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in reaction to his substitution.
His teammates were shocked to see the 28-year-old’s reaction to being subbed who was fuming at the defensive mistakes made by his teammates. Tottenham’s inability to defend cost them the match and this performance has sparked angry exchanges between players.
Serge Aurier has had a fantastic season before the match and now his future looks like a big doubt and especially now that he has entered his final 18 months of contract with Spurs.
Speaking in his post-match interview Jose said, “It was the mood of team that was difficult to accept you are losing. ‘It’s difficult to accept the nature of the goal because the goal is in some aspects a replica of the chance they had in the first minute. So it’s, of course, a mood where people is not happy.”
The Lilywhites’ problems did not end there, as talisman Harry Kane was injured in both his ankles and looks very likely to miss a lot of football going forward.
