Tottenham Hotspur’s interest in Sporting CP’s winger Pedro Gonçalves has become a hot topic in Portugal.
The reports of the club’s pursuit of the 24-year-old have been published in various newspapers including O Jogo, Record, and A Bola.
According to A Bola, Spurs are interested in Gonçalves, also known as Pote, based on their own sources. The report also mentioned that Tottenham Hotspur had initially discussed Pote when they were negotiating the transfer of Pedro Porro in January.
The recent performance of Pote in the Europa League against Arsenal, where he scored a brilliant goal, has further accelerated Tottenham’s pursuit of him. However, there is no mention of how much the player will cost.
Pote is protected by a release clause worth €80m, and his contract with Sporting CP will expire in 2026. It’s worth noting that 50% of the fee would go to his former club, Famalicão.
This is the third Portuguese newspaper to discuss Tottenham’s interest in the player, which indicates that Tottenham are serious about acquiring him this summer.
It remains to be seen whether they will pay the high price for the winger, but if they do, it will be a significant investment for the club.
