Lucas Moura was hailed as a hero by the Tottenham fans when his hat-trick helped the club to reach their first-ever UEFA Champions League final.
But things have gone downhill for Moura since. He has never managed to start more than 25 league games in a single season. Even this year he has made only four starts of a possible eighteen.
It’s quite telling that the highlight of his 20/21 season has been a free-kick against eighth-tier Marine in the FA Cup. He has been regularly snubbed in the favor of Steven Bergwijn, Moussa Sissoko, and sometimes Harry Winks as Mourinho tries to accommodate in the 4-2-3-1 system.
The Brazilian has managed to score just one goal and by comparison right-back, Serge Aurier has managed to score twice and assist one goal this year. All stats look declining which is partially due to lack of game-time as well.
Moving him seems a solid financial as of now, as Daniel Levy can get Moura’s reported £110k-per-week salary off the wage bill which could help fund a new signing. Tottenham does not have to worry about signing an imminent replacement as they still have Gareth Bale till the end of summer.
Lucas Moura Transfermarkt shows his value at £22.5m, it might be time for the Lilywhites to make some money and start planning for the long-term future of the club and as reported by some news outlets Moura is one of several players who is willing to listen to offers, should the right one come in for him this January.
