Serie A giants Inter Milan have joined the race for the signature of Tottenham Hotspur Midfielder Christin Eriksen.

Eriksen has been linked with a move away from the club having stalled talks over a new contract. The Danish player was linked with European clubs like Barcelona, Juventus, Bayern Munich. However, Real Madrid are the favourites to sign the player having made him their primary target in the Summer transfer window.

Italian publication Calciomercato claim, “Inter’s director of football Piero Ausilio has initiated talks to sign the 27-year-old.”

The playmaker is enjoying another great season having scored 10 goals and 16 assists in 40 appearances for the club.

Inter Milan are hoping to lure the player away at the San Siro. Eriksen’s current contract runs out next summer and the club will be looking to sell the player this summer if he does not agree on a new contract at the club. If Tottenham do not sell the player this summer they will risk losing him for free next summer.

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is hopeful that the player will sign a new contract over new terms and with Spurs finally moving in their new stadium it could help the club convince Eriksen to stay. Real Madrid is willing to pay more than  €100m for the midfielder.

It remains to be seen if Inter will be willing to pay such an amount for Eriksen or go for Barca star Ivan Rakitic who is said to be available for around €60m this summer.
