According to football pundit Richard Keys, Chelsea winger Willian has agreed to join Tottenham next season.

The 31-year-old is out of contract in the summer and with Chelsea not willing to offer him the three-year extension that he wants, the Brazilian is set to leave the club on a free transfer.

Speaking to beIN Sports, Keys said, “He’s (Willian) another one that has already spoken to Jose Mourinho, he’s on his way to Tottenham.”

Willian has won five trophies during time at Chelsea in over 200 appearances for the Blues. He recently spoke about his relationship with the former Chelsea manager on Bolivia Talk Show, saying, “Nothing arrived from Mourinho but we do have a good relationship, he’s a big friend of mine. We speak to each other sometimes but when it comes to that (speaking about transfers) he respects me a lot.”

Last week Willian had revealed he was uncertain about his future, “I like London and my family likes it too but that’s a question I don’t know how to answer. I don’t know which club I’m going to or if I’m staying here at Chelsea or if I’m leaving to another London club or if I’m leaving England, that’s something I don’t know.”

Willian is well settled in London with his family and Arsenal and Spurs were the two clubs in contention for his signature. Spurs are offering a better contract and gametime to the Brazilian and his connection with Portuguese manager Jose Mourinho will play a major role in the transfer.

And with Tottenham winger Erik Lamela looking likely to leave in the summer, it will be interesting to see how Willian will fit into Mourinho’s plans. Levy is looking to offload players in this transfer window to make room for new Mourinho-esque signings in the squad.

Willian would be a perfect replacement at right wing, if Erik Lamela moves on.

Willian has scored 7 goals and provided 6 assists this season for Chelsea and still has a couple of years in him to play at the top-most level.

Mourinho generally plays in a 4-2-3-1 and Willian could provide quality and creativity from both the left and the right side of the pitch. With the arrival of Willian, Mourinho will have a variety of options with Heung-min Son, Bergwijn, Lucas Moura and Gedson Fernandes all as options for playing on the flanks.

Mourinho is a huge fan of Willian and by signing the experienced Brazilian, Tottenham will hope to finally win a major trophy in the upcoming season.

Willian had signed for Chelsea in 2013 who had beaten Spurs to him at the last moment and it now appears that after seven years at Chelsea he is finally to set to play for Tottenham after all.
