Fulham and Tottenham Hotspur are set to face off at the Craven Cottage in the second round of the Carabao (EFL) Cup.

WHEN & WHERE?

Date: Tuesday, August 29, 2023
Time: 7.45 pm BST kick-off time
Venue: Craven Cottage

The hosts enter the game on back of a 2-2 draw against the noisy neighbours Arsenal, while Spurs secured a 2-0 victory over Bournemouth in their league encounter.

Five different Spurs players have scored for them in the league this year: James Maddison, Cristian Romero, Dejan Kulusevski, Pape Matar Sarr, and Emerson Royal. Although James Maddison has been very crucial to everything Tottenham have done, assisting on three goals in three league appearances.

Head-to-Head:

Spurs have won 15 of the last 20 head-to-head matches against Fulham, with a statistic of losing a couple and drawing 3.

Joao Palhinha marked his return to the starting lineup with late goal against Arsenal and looks like he’s gonna start again. Willian, however, is doubt and Calvin Bassey will be suspended.

For Spurs, Postecoglou is confident Destiny Udogie ain’t injured and was only taken off against Bournemouth as a precaution. The manager has confirmed he will make changes after not so much of rotation so far in the Premier League.

Prediction:

Aleksandar Mitrovic left Fulham for Al Hilal earlier last week, joining the exodus of strikers from both Fulham and Spurs. Even though Fulham has added Jiminez to their ranks, they may still be lacking the firepower to fully compensate for Mitrovic’s production.

Tottenham have played well under Ange Postecoglou and adjusted well to life without Harry Kane. Spurs are ready to break out under Postecoglou’s leadership. We should be comfortable this game, although Fulham drew to Arsenal at the weekend – they capitalised on the Gunners’ mistakes rather and were nailed back for the majority of that game. We should be fine.
