€30m could prove enough for Spurs to secure Rodrigo De Paul’s services

According to reports by Italian outlet Inter Live, Atletico Madrid midfielder Rodrigo De Paul is being pursued by Tottenham Hotspur, along with the likes of AS Roma, Juventus, Inter Milan, Brentford, Everton, and Aston Villa. The report indicates that a bid in the region of €30 million could be enough to secure his services.

Being an integral part of Lionel Scaloni’s Argentina side that won the 2022 FIFA World Cup, it would be surprising to see De Paul play for a mid-table club when there is interest from teams like Spurs, Juve, and Inter – no disrespecting other potential suitors.

Reports indicate that Tottenham’s sporting director, Fabio Paratici, had already held talks regarding a potential move to N17 for Rodrigo De Paul before taking an immediate leave of absence following his FIFA ban for alleged financial offenses during his time in Turin at Juventus.

There is a feeling that De Paul may wear the infamous Tottenham whites come next season.

De Paul is a solid central midfielder who excels in the defensive aspects of the game. He is not afraid to make tackles and is comfortable in possession. A hard-working player like him would always be welcomed in Tottenham’s midfield.

If De Paul joins Spurs, he will be accompanied by fellow Argentine international Cristian Romero. He will also provide strong competition for Rodrigo Bentancur and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, as the likes of Harry Winks, Pape Matar Sarr, Yves Bissouma, and Tanguy Ndombele are yet to establish themselves as regulars at the White Hart Lane.

At 28 and with his contract not expiring before the summer of 2026, De Paul’s reported price tag makes him an excellent investment for Spurs.

It would be a no-brainer for Tottenham to do everything possible to secure the services of the former Udinese man.
