Newcastle United’s legend Alan Shearer proclaimed that the Tottenham’s performance against Chelsea was the best one that they have displayed yet.
“Tottenham were absolutely fantastic, their best performance of the season I think”, he told Match of the Day.
Shearer looked impressed by Pochettino’s men as he hailed the Spurs trio of Harry Kane, Dele Alli and Heung Min-Son and also criticized Chelsea’s leaky defence.
He stated, “They dominated Chelsea for 90 minutes and ruthlessly exposed that back four.
“Kane, Alli and Son ran them ragged, exposed them and pulled them in positions they didn’t want to go – particularly the centre-halves.”
Shearer also took a dig at Chelsea’s David Luiz who, he thinks, should’ve blocked the Harry Kane’s effort that turned into a goal, instead of moving away from it.
“David Luiz got out the way of the ball, I thought centre-backs were supposed to stop it”.
“The keeper was poor also.”
Tottenham became the first team to defeat Maurizio Sarri’s men, thereby ending their 12 matches unbeaten run in the Premier League. It was a night to remember for Tottenham’s star forward Son, who scored a brilliant solo goal which would also be among the contenders for the best goal of the season.

Christian Eriksen was again at his best as he created seven chances for the team. Kane and Alli, both were on the scoresheet and, overall, the entire team was on fire.
Well, Tottenham have another tough challenge next weekend as they face their another fierce rival, the Gunners, Arsenal. Hope the Lilywhites keep making these kinds of performances consistently and keep the top four tight until the very end of the season.
