Tottenham have now turned their attention on the upcoming season after booking their place in the Champions league finals against Liverpool.
Reports from Itali claim that “Tottenham are set to make an ‘official offer’ for Roma’s Nicolo Zaniolo in the coming days as the club prepares for a summer of recruitment.”
The Young Italian international is linked with number of too clubs in the Serie A and across Europe. Zaniolo has been in fine form this season scoring 6 goals and assisting 4 in 25 appearances for the club.
Italian publication Gazzetta dello Sport claim that “An unnamed ‘radiomercato’ (roughly translated to ‘transfer window radio’) have confirmed Tottenham’s interest in the player .”
The report also reveals that “Chairman Daniel Levy and the Spurs hierarchy will put in an ‘official offer’ for the 19-year-old ‘next week’
Roma has placed a €55m tag on the player it remains to be seen if Spurs will be willing to pay this amount for a young player who has just experienced top league football for one season.
Tottenham have a shortage of midfielders in the team as Moussa Dembele left the club for China in January and things could get even worse if Eriksen leaves this summer to join Real Madrid.
As a result, Spurs have been linked with a host of midfielders this season as they seek for a replacement for Dembele and possibly Eriksen.
Tottenham are set to concentrate on some upcoming foreign talents this summer as Dutch & Ajax starlet Frenkie de Jong admitted considering an offer from Mauricio Pochettino’s side ‘long and hard’ last summer before deciding to stay loyal to Ajax – Who faced Spurs’ in the Champions League semi-final. Well now Frenkie will board his plane to Barcelona as soon as this season concludes.
However another opportunity has emerged as rising star Zaniolo has caught eyes and scouts at North London believe him to be someone who fits the bill for this summer as increasing his options centrally and on the attacking side of midfield comes as a priority for manager Pochettino.
The 19-year-old is byfar rated as best young player in Italy as of now and has enjoyed breakthrough campaign since joining AS Roma from Inter Milan for £3.5 million last summer.
Zaniolo is another face along side long time transfer target Aston Villa’s skipper & superstar Jack Grealish, who will cost Tottenham something around £35 million, if they are wanting to secure his signatures this summer.
