Maurizio Sarri did NOT consider Spurs offer

Maurizio Sarri has been one of the names persuaded at Spurs to fill in the vacant managerial position as Mason Ryan takes charge at N17 till the conclusion of current campaign.

There were reports which suggesting that Tottenham have made official contact with Sarri’s Agent. Although an opportunity to stay in Italy was always more compelling for the Italian and reports in Italy by Corriere Dello Sport propound that Maurizio didn’t consider an offer from Spurs over fears about travelling with the current pandemic scenario.

Roma’s humiliation in hands of Manchester United in the midweek means they have sped up the process of replacing their current manager, Paulo Fonseca. It’s said that the decision to get over Paulo was made months ago with club’s chief Dan Friedkin preferring Sarri at the wheel.

Maurizio Sarri has been out of management since leaving Juventus last summer just after a year at helm.

Roma are keen to offer Sarri a two-year deal worth €4.5m a year with a meeting between Fali Ramadani (Sarri’s agent) and Tiago Pinto (Roma director of football) scheduled in the next few days as Sarri is ‘ready to say yes’ to Roma and has expressed not interest any other offers, with Tottenham claimed to have an offer tabled.

Although the nature of offer was not clear, it’s stated that Maurizio ‘did not consider’ a move to North London because of worries around COVID.

Sarri is resting in his house, but is ‘very worried’ about the current situation, so much so that no-one is allowed in the premises without being tested. The Italian ‘prefers to avoid too many trips’, which rules out a move to England.
