If one puts his ears at Wembley, he may hear only one name in the crowd and that is Erik Lamela. The Argentine winger has been in such a good form in the recent weeks that he has earned a recall to the Argentine national squad, where even the Barcelona star Lionel Messi isn’t included after taking a break from international football.

The 26-years-old continued his good run with the opener goal against Wolves to help his Tottenham a mesmerizing 3-2 win. Lamela now has eight goals in his last 12 Tottenham matches, and undoubtedly having his finest run ever since arriving at the north London club.

Speculations raised with his position in the squad and with the return of Dele Alli from injury, his place could be in danger. Though the former Spurs legend Robbie Keane thinks that regardless of the midfielder’s fitness, the former Roma man deserves to be in the first choice based on his impressive form at the moment.

Keane thinks that Lamela has grown into one of Tottenham’s most potent forces. Keane said to Skysports that he was fantastic against the Wolves and in the past few weeks he has been one of the outstanding players. He thinks that it has continued from last season, the game against Leicester when he scored a double and Lemela’s form has carried on since then and has been brilliant.

Robbie Keane also complimented Lamela’s adaptability across the front line what makes him unpredictable and dangerous for opponents. He also said that the winger is very clever and he always gets in those pockets and that goal was the prime example. Keane also added that one may see him on the left sometimes and the next time he would be on the right and also in the middle.

Keane also said that the interplay between the forward four was fantastic against Wolves but Lamela has certainly stepped up to the plate in the last few weeks. Keane feels that Lamela deserves to be in the squad on a regular basis and manager Mauricio Pochettino should consider maintaining the winger in the team even if it comes in the cost of Dele Alli.

“He was fantastic today,” Keane said. “In the last few weeks he’s been one of the outstanding players. I think it continued from last season. He’s been brilliant.

“He’s very clever and he always gets in those little pockets. The goal was a prime example of that. You’re not really sure where he plays. He’s certainly stepped up to the plate. You probably won’t see Dele Alli starting for four or five games.”
