Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly weighing up a move Lille goalkeeper Mike Maignan ahead of this summer’s transfer window.
The Lilywhites are beginning to cast doubts over the long term future of first choice shot-stopper Hugo Lloris, as his performances continue to sink.
Per reports from Le 10 Sport, Jose Mourinho has identified Maignan as a potential replacement for the France international, with Tottenham said to be keeping a close eye on the 24-year-old ahead of a possible move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this summer.
The same media outlet also adds that Chelsea are also considering the young goalkeeper, as the French outfit are also said to be ready to listen to offers for their No.1 ahead of the 2020/21 season.
Frank Lampard’s team have had goalkeeper issues in the 2019/20 campaign, with Kepa Arrizabalaga and Wily Caballero all not convincing enough.
Maignan made the move to join Les Dogues from Paris Saint-Germain in August 2015, and has made over 37 appearances for the club in the current campaign. In those appearances, the goalkeeper has kept 13 clean sheets for Lille.
His current deal at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy runs through until the summer of 2022 and should command a decent fee should any of the two Premier League sides decide to sign him.
He may no be an upgrade on Lloris, but with many years ahead of him, Maignan could go on to replicate what the former has been doing for quite a long time now.
