Tottenham Hotspur are in danger of losing forward Harry Kane if they fail to match his trophy ambitions in the coming years.
The England captain has puts doubts on his Spurs future insisting that he will not continue at Tottenham ‘for the sake of it‘.
Tottenham Hotspur are yet to taste a piece of silverware since the EFL Cup triumph 12 years ago and going further below since making the UEFA Champions League final last season under former manager Mauricio Pochettino. Jose Mourinho is currently at the helm of the team and has struggled since his early honeymoon.
The 26-year-old who is under contract until 2024, has often spoken of his desire to win titles at his boyhood club in previous interviews, but the Live chat with Jamie Redknapp produced a different outcome as he may be forced to look elsewhere for Silverware.
Manchester United and Real Madrid have always been credited with an interest in the prolific goalscorer and his recent comments could spark a transfer battle.
“Obviously I get asked this question a lot,” Kane said in a live video with former Spurs midfielder Redknapp. “It’s one of those things – I couldn’t say yes and I couldn’t say no.
“I love Spurs, I’ll always love Spurs but I’ve always said if I don’t feel we’re progressing as a team or going in the right direction, I’m not someone to stay there for the sake of it.”
Tottenham are currently out of all cup competitions and are struggling to make the cut for ‘Top Four’, as they sit at eight on the league table.
“I’m an ambitious player, I want to improve, get better and become one of the top, top players. It all depends on what happens as a team and how we progress as a team.
“So it’s not a definite I’m going to stay there forever but it’s not a no either.”
The Spurs forward also spoke on the Premier League season, adding that the league should be scrapped if not completed by the end of June.
