Spurs summer has predominantly revolved around Christian Eriksen transfer saga with every other report divergent to one another. But above all odds, Mauricio Pochettino was successful in keeping his man although with a reasonable risk of him leaving for nothing at the end of this campaign.
Denmark national team assistant coach – John Dahl Tomasson had his say on Eriksen’s situation.
Tomasson would like for his countryman to stay at Tottenham Hotspur.
Eriksen, earlier in the summer, admitted his willingness to look beyond North London in pursuit of a new challenge which triggered interests from the likes of Real Madrid, Juventus, Atletico Madrid and Manchester United.
There ain’t been any indication from the Dane over extending his stay at N17, but Tomasson believes Eriksen should change his stance over extending his contract with the Lilywhites.
Jon Dahl Tomasson told BT: “It’s been written whether or not Christian should change the club. And he shouldn’t. He is such a balanced and skilled player, so they will always benefit from him. He must play at Tottenham.
“I’m certainly not nervous because you have to assume that Tottenham will play with their best players.
“I know the coach and Christian have a good relationship. Tottenham is an excellent club for Christian and a huge club in England.”
Talking about me, I would really love watching Eriksen stay at Tottenham. He has nearly helped the young bunch of lads convert into serious contenders.
He may have his heart set on a big move, but Tottenham’s performance this season might just help change that.
