Spurs still are in contention to lift a silverware this season after booking their place in Quarterfinals of the Champions League with a 4-0 aggregate victory over Borussia Dortmund.
Tottenham were not the better team in the 2nd leg but heroics by goalkeeper Lloris and a goal by striker Harry Kane proved enough for Spurs to walk away with the victory from the Signal Iduna Park. Despite missing more than a month out Striker Harry Kane has scored 22 goals this season and with his strike against Dortmund, the player has become Spurs leading goalscorer in European competitions.
Spurs have failed to find a backup for striker Harry Kane despite the signings Fernando Llorente and Vincent Janssen. Neither of the players have proved to be a good back up for the forward. Harry Kane has missed more than a month out over the last 2 seasons with his ankle ligament injury and as Spurs do not have a backup they have failed to fill in his void in the team.
Spurs desperately are keen to bring in more players for increasing depth in their attacking options. One such player is Espanyol striker Borja Iglesias, The player is been linked with Spurs after being in terrific form this season which has seen him notch 14 goals and 2 assists in 30 appearances for the Spanish Club.
El Gol Digital reported in November that “Spurs are interested in signing Iglesias, with Pochettino looking to raid his former club for a new striker to compete with Kane”
The player recently also expressed that Spurs striker Harry Kane is one of his favourites and looks up to him. The player has a €28million release clause in his contract and at just 26 years of age could prove to be a bargain for Spurs.
Llorente and Janssen could be shown the door is Spurs decide to cash in for the player. Iglesias has shown his composure and just how effective he is in the air this season. He can also do physical work to help his side when defending and can create opportunities for his side. Moreover, Spurs will have a good player to rely on if any of their key forwards are absent.
With the player confessing his appreciation for Spurs striker Kane, a chance to play with the forward could be tempting enough for the player if Spurs decide to make a move for the player.
