Tottenham and Man Utd are watching a Club Brugge attacker who played just ten Premier League games at Wolves, and Roma are too

Carlos Forbs has gone from a ten-game spell at Wolves to a transfer target for Tottenham and Manchester United, according to a report from Italy.

The Portuguese attacker is now at Club Brugge, and Carlos Forbs transfer interest has grown on the back of a big Champions League night against Inter Milan last week, when he racked up three assists. ASRomaLive say Tottenham and United have him on their radar.

It is a long way from his time in the Premier League. Forbs spent a season at Wolves on loan from Ajax, played just ten league games and never cemented a place, which led to a return to Ajax.

Why are Tottenham and Man Utd interested in Carlos Forbs?

The numbers explain it. Forbs has three goals and six assists across all competitions this season, and he has been involved in 32 goals in 62 appearances since joining the Belgian side. The Inter game also put him in front of a lot of watching eyes.

Tottenham are also reported to be scouting Como’s Lucas Da Cunha, as we covered on Monday. Any move would be one for Roberto De Zerbi to weigh up, although nothing in the report suggests a bid is close.

Are Roma and other clubs chasing Carlos Forbs too?

Yes. Roma sent scouts to watch him against Inter and have monitored him many times before. The report adds that Spanish and German clubs also tried to sign him in the summer, so Tottenham and United would not have a clear run.

His valuation is not known. The next few months could push it higher, and that is the problem for any interested club.

Is Club Brugge a good place to find the next Premier League signing?

Brugge have become a club on the rise. They sold Christos Tzolis to Arsenal this summer, and clubs have also stepped forward for Nicolo Tresoldi, who Spurs and Arsenal were linked with back in April. Their Champions League runs over the past two seasons have lifted their reputation across Europe.

That is bad news for buyers, because a club that knows its worth will ask for it.

Author opinion

This looks like early scouting rather than a live pursuit. Forbs has plainly improved since leaving Wolves, and a winger with six assists already is worth a look. But with Roma sniffing around and Brugge’s price likely to climb with every big performance, Tottenham will need to move quickly if De Zerbi really wants him. For Wolves, it may become a small regret.
