Tottenham Hotspur are actively monitoring AS Trencin’s breakout winger Sani Suleiman, with the north London side identifying him as a future star for the project under Thomas Frank.

According to TEAMtalk, Spurs made contact earlier this month after being impressed by Suleiman’s electric displays at the U-20 World Cup. But they aren’t alone in the chase, Chelsea have now entered the race and made enquiries of their own, setting up a London tug-of-war for the 19-year-old African prodigy.

Suleiman has emerged as one of the brightest young wide players outside Europe’s top five leagues. His dribbling ability, explosive pace, and creative edge in the final third make him a standout profile. Spurs, in particular, see him as a long-term investment who could be gradually introduced through the academy or loan pathways, a blueprint that’s worked with their other recent youth acquisitions.

While Suleiman would not be expected to walk into the starting XI, he’d offer raw potential that could be refined into something special. Tottenham are actively trying to reshape their forward line, and adding a profile like Suleiman, who brings unpredictability and dynamism fits perfectly with their future-facing recruitment strategy.

Chelsea’s interest complicates things. The Blues have also doubled down on youth-centric signings and could pitch a similar developmental plan, though Tottenham may be able to offer a more stable pathway to first-team minutes under Frank’s system.

For Suleiman, the prospect of joining either Premier League giant is huge. A move to England represents a massive leap, both in competition and development. But Spurs will be hoping their long-standing interest gives them an edge.

If they pull it off, this could be one of those deals that looks like a bargain five years down the line.
